Working with one of Britain and the world’s favourite brands to produce a hugely challenging concept of a hanging structure that represented Burberry vans with open doors and presents flowing out of the back.
This was hung in two areas of Harrods, London. One in their brand new Door 5 escalator and a slightly simplified version in their exhibition walk way alongside the rest of their Christmas 2016 campaign.
Countless technical drawings were produced due to the limited weight restrictions in the Harrods ceilings. Weight, torque and method were a real challenge but as team we were able to come to quick solutions and take the lead while impressing the client and store who had never embarked on anything like this.
Using aluminium box section powder coated with a bespoke champagne gold glitter finish to match the traditional Burberry ribbon we developed a structure that would be strong enough to not bend when hung at different angles but was also ornate enough to represent the artistry of the brand.
Our box section was attached to spreader bars hung from existing ceiling hooks to give us a base to work from. Once positioned the rest was straight forward due to our diligent planning. Our fibreglass owls and aluminium vans were hung directly to the bars and hooks to give two hanging points so if one fails the item will not fall.
The presents were carefully hung with 100kg rated monofilament line to finish the build and give Burberry a Christmas campaign like no other!
